Camso buys American industrial tire distributor

Michelin-owned Camso North America has acquired Metro Industrial Tires, a forklift tire dealer and distributor based in Chicago.

Metro Industrial Tires, founded in 1983 and ordering tires from Camso / Solideal for many years, has two distribution centers located in the south and north of Chicago.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to Bob Bulger, Vice President and General Manager of Camso North America, Chicago is one of the largest material handling markets in the United States, so the acquisition of the Metro business will expand and strengthen Camso's market position in the region.

Camso, a Canadian-based Quebec-based company, manufactures a variety of tires, rubber tracks and various components for loaders, as well as construction, agricultural and industrial equipment. The business, which is marketed under the Camso and Solideal brands, was acquired by Michelin in 2018.
