During a recent conference, Goodyear thanked its dealers for their support in August this year, when President Donald Trump called for a boycott of the tire manufacturer's products.
During the opening of the online conference, Steve McClellan, president of Goodyear Tire & Rubber's Americas division, acknowledged that the company's dealers faced negative pressure when President Donald Trump called for a boycott of Goodyear tires. McClellan's remarks are the company's first comment on the situation since it issued a written statement in response to a call for a boycott of its tires.
Recall that in August of this year, Donald Trump called for a boycott of the company's products because it does not allow its employees to wear clothes with political slogans at work, including Trump's slogan "Make America Great Again".
Steve McClellan said that despite all the difficulties, Goodyear remains the "number one brand" for American consumers.
“You faced a lot of negativity when the company got caught up in political discussions this year,” Steve McClellan told dealers. - We know that it was difficult and unexpected. I say on behalf of our entire company - we appreciate your patience and support and sincerely thank you. "
