Yokohama Rubber Completes Sale of Sealing & Adhesives Business

Yokohama Rubber has completed the sale of its Hamatite sealing and adhesives business to the Swiss Sika Group.

Sika Hamatite Co., Ltd. has now taken over the Hamatite operations in Japan. and Sika Hamatite Sales Co., Ltd. The subsidiaries' businesses in the United States, China and Thailand are taken over by Sika Automotive Kentucky, Sika Hamatite Automotive (Zhejiang) and Sika Thailand.

Yokohama Rubber expects the sale of the business to generate about ¥ 5 billion (€ 39 million) from business discontinuance, which will be reflected in its fourth quarter 2021 financial results.

The Yokohama Rubber Hamatite division began production in 1958 and has since expanded to focus on automotive and construction sealants and adhesives. Although the company offers high quality, high performance products, it faced challenges in today's market environment and Yokohama Rubber decided to divest its Hamatite business.
