Matador Tires

The Slovak company Matador tyre production began in 1925 year. Under this brand tires installed on all famous brands of Czechoslovak car stock 30-IES, thereby actively cooperating with trademarks, SKODA, TATRA, aircraft manufacturers and others.  

The Matador was the first tyre company in the former Czechoslovakia.

The organization started its commercial operations in September 1905 year. At the beginning of the year was 1906 started production of rubber hoses and belts on a new factory in Bratislava. Test tyre production was started in the year 1925, and during the next six years, Matador was the only tire manufacturer in Czechoslovakia. In 1945 the company was nationalized and became State.

In the postwar years, domestic production could not cope with the demand for tyres, and it was decided to build a new plant. September 7, 1947 year, construction began on the new plant, which was completed in the year 1948.

Opening of the new production took place on May 1, 1950 Goda. In 1955 year were running conveyor belts. The company became the monopoly producer of rubber Chambers in Czechoslovakia in 1962 year. Production of truck radial tyres Steel began in 1968 year. Three years later the company started production of passenger radial tyres. The product range of the company was enlarged by the commercial radial All Steel bus in 1976 year. In the year 1979 began manufacturing tyres using steel cord.

With the expansion of the product range, increasing the importance of research and company take steps for their development. Research Institute was opened in 1987 in Puchov.

In the beginning of 90-ies the Matador became a joint-stock company. Changed trademark. From 1993 onwards, all products are manufactured only under the label Matador. Converting to a private company ended in 1994 year.

In 1995 year established subsidiaries Matador Machinery and Matador Omskshina.

In 1998 year conducted audits have shown that Matador was the first company in Slovakia and Eastern Europe, which has successfully passed the certification system in accordance with the standards ISO 9001, QS 9000 and VDA 6.1.

Joint venture Matador and Continental was established in Puchov in September 1998 year.

The Organization began the transition to the German model and the modernization of production processes using international consulting companies.  Also, the strategic goals of the company were identified.

in 2005 year the company Matador celebrated its centenary and published an updated logo that will represent the brand in the future.

In 2007 year, 51% of the units of the Matador rubber products to Continental.

Continental opens new manufacturing plant in puchov, which allowed to significantly increase the production of models of tires for cars and light trucks. The project was developed and approved the further development of productive capacities.
