The technology underpinning the latest Nokian Hakka Green 3 products in the Nokian Hakka summer tire family is the Green Sense concept, which reduces braking distances and easily prevents aquaplaning on bumpy roads. Stable, precise and comfortable handling is ensured on both dry and wet surfaces.

The Hakka Green Hybrid rubber compound, developed for variable summer weather, combined with a specially selected tread pattern, provides excellent durability from the first days of spring to the cold autumn. New sustainable material solutions complement the environmental friendliness of Nokian Hakka Green 3. The environmentally friendly 100% natural rubber compound provides durability and excellent wet grip, making driving easier.

The wear resistance of the new Nokian Hakka Green3 is up to 35% longer than its predecessor. This is a significant step forward in terms of reliability. Depending on the driving style, this can mean an increase in service life of approximately 10,000 kilometers or one summer season. For most sizes of Nokian Hakka Green, class 3 wet grip corresponds to level A according to the EU Euro-label, which is the best indicator. Among the wide range of sizes, there are six sizes that have received the highest A rating for wet grip and rolling resistance according to the EU tire label; and among these six sizes the most popular tire size is 205/55 R16.

The wide range of Nokian Hakka Green 3 tire sizes (from 13 to 18 inches) for a comfortable and eco-friendly driving experience is especially suitable for small and medium-sized family cars. Many tire sizes are specially designed for the latest hybrid and electric vehicles. The most common speed indices are T (up to 190 km / h), H (up to 210 km / h) and V (up to 240 km / h). The main markets for summer tires of the updated Nokian Hakka family are the Nordic countries, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. The new Nokian Hakka Green3 summer tires will be available to customers in spring 2021.

In a study of summer tires for changing summer conditions conducted by Nokian Tires in March 2020, drivers prioritized good grip on wet roads and resistance to aquaplaning among all tire characteristics. In addition, fuel economy and wear resistance were in the first positions.

Sustainable development is an integral part of Nokian Tires' business. Safety and sustainability are considered throughout the tire's life cycle. Nokian Hakka Green3 tires are highly safe and fuel efficient. In terms of wet grip and fuel efficiency, these tires are among the best in the industry - they meet Class A or B according to the Euro tire label.

Nokian Hakka Green3 tires have extremely low rolling resistance and lower fuel consumption, which in turn results in lower CO2 emissions and less damage to the environment. The Nokian Hakka Green3 model is for those who value environmental friendliness in everything. The new Nokian Hakka Green3 tires save up to 0.6 liters per 100 km (comparison of class A and G tires according to the EU Euro-label). In other words, driver choice really matters.

Improved grip and handling - Hakka Green Sense concept

The Nokian Hakka Green3 tire does an excellent job of handling a wide variety of choppy summer weather conditions. Their safety, improved durability and environmental friendliness are based on the application of the Hakka Green Sense concept. This concept combines Nokian Tires' many years of experience in tire development and testing, as well as in the search for completely new tread patterns and materials.

The unique Hakka Green Sense concept is a combination of a tread pattern and tread compound specially designed for the choppy summer weather. In the Nokian Hakka family of tires, each of the three-part asymmetrical and stylish tread pattern (outer, center, inner - Triple Zone) plays an important role.

Large, firmly attached tread blocks on the outer shoulder stabilize handling and ensure precise handling. The Active Hydro Zone in the center of the tread provides excellent grip and handling on both dry and wet roads. The central part of the tread consists of rigid main ribs. The rib closest to the inner shoulder has clearly defined diagonal grooves, or lamellas, of different depths and lengths. Precisely positioned sipes form a dense network that collects water and effectively removes it from the tire-to-road contact patch by channeling water through the center rib groove into the wide main grooves. The sipe contour provides excellent aquaplaning resistance and wet grip, even when worn.

The Coanda effect is based on the property of flow to change direction depending on the shape of the surface, this innovation enhances the drainage of water from the longitudinal groove in the inner shoulder of the tire and effectively prevents aquaplaning. The ramp-like curved portion on the tread blocks on the inner shoulder of the tire directs and accelerates the flow of water from the longitudinal grooves into the lateral grooves.

The Hakka Green Hybrid compound used in this new, environmentally friendly and durable tire embodies the latest technology. The extremely wear-resistant rubber compound containing new bio-derived materials guarantees low rolling resistance and withstands changing summer weather.

“The silica mix adapts to changes in temperature, resulting in excellent wet grip in spring and autumn. The environmentally friendly rubber compound contains natural rubber in combination with polymers, which reduces rolling resistance and contributes to the extreme elasticity of the tire, which can handle rough roads very well, ”explains Jarno Röitiyo.

The rigid belt structure of the new Nokian Hakka tires consists of an even tighter wound steel wire. The belt design makes it lightweight and durable, resulting in precise control when maneuvering and changing lanes, even at high speeds.

The flexible and durable belt design, combined with the Hakka Green Hybrid rubber compound and modern tread pattern, offers many benefits. Stable handling makes it easy to change lanes and take turns. Reduced rolling resistance means lower fuel costs. Tire noise is pleasant and quiet on both asphalt and gravel roads.

According to wear tests carried out in the Nordic countries and Russia, the new Nokian Hakka Green 3 tires are 35% more durable than their predecessor, the Hakka Green 2.

This increase in durability means that tires can last a whole season longer and also helps the environment as they do not need to be changed as often. In addition, the Nokian Hakka Green 3's puncture and cut resistance is improved by increasing the amount of rubber in the base of the tread grooves. This provides additional strength on gravel roads and in various unexpected situations, preventing stones and other objects from entering the tire carcass, which in the worst case can lead to its destruction.

Tires in good condition can significantly reduce the risk of aquaplaning. To make it easier for drivers to monitor the tread depth of their tires, Nokian Tires has developed an ingenious safety solution: a tread wear indicator that also warns of the danger of aquaplaning.

The tread wear indicator (DSI - Driving Safety Indicator) on the center rib indicates the residual depth of the tread grooves in millimeters. The largest of the not yet erased digits of the indicator indicates the current depth of the tread grooves in millimeters. As the tire wears down, the numbers gradually disappear. The drop symbol on the indicator warns of an increased risk of aquaplaning. When this symbol disappears due to wear, it means that the tread groove depth is less than 4 mm.

To improve safety, there is also an information area on the sidewall, where you can indicate the pressure in the tire and its location on the vehicle. The information area is used to indicate the recommended tire pressure and the position of the tire when changing. Additional safety is ensured by the indication in a special area of the tightening torque of the bolts, which is especially important for light-alloy wheels.
