Goodyear will supply tires for the Sports Prototype Cup

Goodyear has officially become the tire supplier for the Sports Prototype Cup and will be using the tires for the first time in a support race for the Portuguese Formula 1 round on October 23-25.

In the Sports Prototype Cup, competitors drive racing cars from brands such as Revolution and Radical. Last year, the races were held in pilot mode, in 2020 they had to be canceled due to the pandemic, and now the organizers plan to hold a full season in 2021.

In the Revolution Trophy class, pilots will compete behind the wheel of the new Revolution A-One, a carbon-fiber sports car powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine that generates a power-to-weight ratio of 440 hp. per ton. The new car will be showcased to an international audience for the first time in F1, and the partnership with SPC will bring Goodyear back to the paddock of the planet's premier racing championship. Goodyear is currently considered the most successful tire supplier in F1 with 386 Grand Prix victories.

Over the past two years, Goodyear has signed tire supply agreements with the organizers of the World and British Touring Car Championships (WTCR and BTCR). In addition, the tires have been approved for the MINI Challenge, Pure ETCR and LMP2 class in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the European Le Mans Series (ELMS).
