The tire sensor specialist Tyrata Inc. and the Japanese trading company Marubeni Corp. entered into a partnership agreement to promote the Tyrata tire depth analysis system in Japan.
Marubeni will supply its customers with the Tyrata IntelliTread Drive-Over System (DOS), which, together with an associated data analysis platform, is said to provide highly efficient real-time monitoring of tire tread depth.
DOS modules will be available in the Japanese market in the fourth quarter of 2020. According to Tyrata, they provide extremely accurate and fast tread depth estimates for all tires in a vehicle. Data readout occurs when the car drives on a special platform similar to a speed bump.
As part of the partnership, Marubeni will conduct demonstration trials with Japanese transport companies, and after verification Marubeni plans to enter into an exclusive distribution contract with Tyrata.
North Carolina-based American company Tyrata develops sensors and offers wireless tire wear sensors and monitoring systems. Together with Duke University, the company has developed IntelliTread carbon nanotube sensor technology that captures “millimeter changes” in tread depth.
