Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro), a Swedish tire pyrolysis company, will supply reclaimed carbon black to Trelleborg in Forsched, Sweden, where it will be used to produce rubber compounds for various customers.
The new supply agreement was concluded following "successful production trials and long-term cooperation" between the two Swedish companies. According to Enviro, the agreement marks a new stage in the use of recovered carbon black in the rubber industry.
The volumes and dates of future deliveries are still to be determined, according to the statement.
The Trelleborg Mixing Forsheda plant produces blends for various companies in the rubber industry. According to Enviro, Trelleborg plans to completely replace “traditional” carbon blacks with reclaimed material in one of its rubber compounds for some customers.
“Switching to recovered carbon blacks gives the rubber compound the same or even better performance than conventional raw materials,” explained Carl Cumming, Material Development Manager at Trelleborg Mixing Forsheda AB.
The move is also in line with Trelleborg's CO2 reduction targets.
Enviro reclaimed carbon black has previously been used in solid tires and various rubber products. The company supplies recovered carbon black to the Trelleborg plant in Sri Lanka, where it is used to make solid tires.
