Bridgestone reorganizes its leadership structure

Bridgestone Corporation announced plans to implement a new leadership structure.

Effective January 1, 2021, Bridgestone's leadership structure will be reduced from five to three levels of senior officials, executives and managers.

In accordance with the planned changes, the Japanese group will eliminate the current system of “authorized managers” and re-qualify some of the existing positions. Bridgestone will also cut the number of senior officials from 60 to 20, and the overall number of “leadership positions” will be reduced by 20%.

According to the Japanese manufacturer of tires and diversified products, the new structure should speed up the decision-making process and turn Bridgestone into a "leading organization."

Laurent Dartoux will retain her position as Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Bridgestone Corp. and will remain Chairman of Bridgestone's Europe, Middle East, India and Africa division.

Asahiko Nishiyama, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Bridgestone Americas, will leave the company on January 1, 2021.
