The Linglong Group, the parent company of Chinese manufacturer Shandong Linglong Tire, is currently setting up a virtual test site at its Tire Test Center in Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province, China.
The virtual polygon will be designed using the VI-GraphSim and VI-Road tools developed by VI-Grade, a computer simulation company. These tools, the company says, will enable the use of road data files and graphical scripts for offline and online modeling. In addition, the Linglong virtual polygon data files will be available for purchase and rental on the VI-Grade website.
“The 150-hectare Sino-Asia Tire Proving Ground was opened to the public in 2016 and is now one of the largest test centers in Asia, and is considered China's first large open-air test site,” said Ne Qiuhai, deputy general manager of the test center. "Through the use of VI-GraphSim and VI-Road software provided by VI-Grade, we plan to further expand our virtual testing capabilities and engage in virtual development."
The LingLong Group hopes that by expanding its capabilities to combine physical and virtual testing, it will be able to partner with a wider range of automakers.
“We are delighted that Linglong has decided to partner with the VI-Grade,” added Guido Bairati, VP Sales and Marketing for the VI-Grade. "This will help our customers make faster and more accurate vehicle design decisions and reduce dependence on physical prototypes by safely accessing a virtual version of their test site."
