Continental launched a research and development center in Silicon Valley

Continental company opened a new research and development center in San Jose this week.

The center, which is located in Silicon Valley, will develop solutions for the future mobility of automated driving systems, various automotive electronics and communication systems. More than 300 specialists will be able to work in the center.

"Our focus is on developing and shaping the future mobility environment," said Kurt Lehmann, corporate technology director for Continental. "In the new center we unite the wishes and orders of our customers with our innovative ideas, knowledge, energy and great experience - for the common good."

Lehmann noted that the new research and development center will make an important contribution to the implementation of Continental's global strategy, which aims to develop advanced transportation technologies.

"Now the automobile industry is experiencing the biggest transformation in its 130-year history. In the past, the efficiency of transport was increased mainly through mechanical solutions, and now for this purpose, sensors, electronics, software and digitalization are used. In the future, our business will develop through such intelligent digital technologies, "Lehmann explained.

Continental has been present in Silicon Valley for several years: since 2014, there is a branch in charge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
