Sumitomo Dunlop's South African plant in Ladysmith has launched a new premium drive axle truck tire, the Dunlop SP835A.

The tire is designed and manufactured in South Africa, taking into account the needs of local transport fleets, road and climatic conditions.

“The new SP835A is of great value to both the company and the trucking industry,” said Riaz Haffejee, CEO of Sumitomo Dunlop. “The launch of the Dunlop SP835A is the start of a new era - we can now supply the market with a complete set of locally made truck tires for both steering, drive and trailer.”

Designed for long distance haulage, the Dunlop SP835A tire delivers high levels of fuel efficiency. Variable tread pitch and optimized lug angle reduce uneven wear, and thanks to a special compound, the tire offers increased puncture and damage resistance. The nylon-reinforced tire bead also reduces the risk of damage, while the new tread pattern configuration improves rider comfort.

In addition, the tire is protected from stones falling into the grooves of the pattern, and the reinforced structure makes it suitable for subsequent retreading.

The novelty is available on the regional market in sizes 315/80R22.5 and 295/80R22.5.
