Pirelli launches special edition Scorpion tires for Ford pickup

Pirelli has developed a special version of the Scorpion ATR tires for the new Ford F-150 pickup.

According to Pirelli, the tire features a special tread pattern that reduces ride noise by 3 dB and a new generation tread compound that provides improved handling on wet roads and snow. To develop this special edition, Pirelli engineers applied the most advanced modeling and design tools to meet Ford's stringent tire specifications. The modern digital approach to collaborative tire design has dramatically increased development speed and reduced the number of prototypes.

“Pirelli and Ford have partnered for over twenty years and are working together to create tires for more than fifteen different Ford models,” says the Italian manufacturer. “Together, a new version of the Scorpion ATR has been created to optimally complement the performance of the new F-150 pickup. the tires will form the basis for the Pirelli Scorpion range of tires to be launched in the coming months. "

It took two and a half years to create the new Pirelli Scorpion ATR. Ford and Pirelli worked together on prototyping, production and testing. The goal of the project, Pirelli emphasizes, was to create a tire ideal for Ford's new pickup. In particular, Pirelli engineers have specially designed tire mold profiles for the new F-150 to provide maximum traction with improved rolling resistance.

The tire is available in two sizes: 275/60R20 and 265/70R1.
