Atturo enters the drag racing tire market

Atturo has unveiled its first drag tires, the Atturo AZ850 DR (AZ850DR), at SEMA in Las Vages. The abbreviation DR - Drag Racing speaks about the purpose of the tires, and the owners of American muscle cars will be the target group of buyers.

The Atturo AZ850 DR features a new directional tread pattern with wide shoulders and a large center rib for improved handling, and the compound has been redesigned for maximum grip. Atturo says it outperforms nearly all competitors in shoulder width, and this section is key to delivering high traction at the start. In turn, the wide central rib allows you to maintain directional stability during the ride.

“From the beginning, the Atturo brand has been focused on three main areas,” said Michael Mathis, president of the company. - Firstly, in any market where we are present, we strive for our products to be one of the best, and secondly, we are interested in real enthusiasts, that is, we work in segments where drivers really love their cars and want to improve them with tires, and thirdly, we always want our offer to have a high price-performance ratio. "

The novelty is intended for installation in different-sized configurations on the rear axle, while Atturo AZ850 are available for the front wheels, about which the company says that "the owners of modern muscle cars have appreciated their huge advantages over tires from the original equipment of their cars."

“In our dragstrip tests, the AZ850 has proven to improve speeds over the all-season and optional summer Challenger Hellcat tires, and it also outperforms other popular aftermarket tires that often cost a lot more,” Atturo said. "As such, the AZ850 has the best speed and value for money in the muscle car tire segment, and after their success, we realized that a drag racing tire would be a logical step for our brand."

Market research by Atturo found that 1.8 million muscle cars are currently in use on American roads. That being said, over 44% of owners are likely to tune their cars, with new tires being the most popular option.

“Muscle car owners, whether it's Challenger, Charger, Mustang or Camaro, have a real passion for their cars,” said Mathis. “We love that our products are a better buy than the unreasonably expensive OE tires they typically use. And we also realized that muscle car drivers are very similar to Jeepers in that they love their cars very much and are very likely to modify them in some way. "

The Atturo AZ850 DR is road legal and designed for cars such as the Dodge Challenger and Charger, Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. At the first stage, the tires will be available in 10 sizes from 315 / 40R18 to 335 / 30R20, production will start in early 2022, and the novelty will be supplied to dealers from next spring.
