Toyo Observe GSi-6

Toyo Tire Canada is expanding its range of Toyo Observe GSi-6 winter tires in the region with two new products for crossovers, SUVs and light trucks.

The new non-studded versions of the GSi-6 HP and GSi-6 LS differ from the GSi-6 in the tread pattern and use Toyo Microbit technology: to improve grip on winter roads, a silica-reinforced rubber compound is used, which is supplemented with crushed walnut shells and bamboo ash. This mixture, the manufacturer claims, improves wet grip and handling on snow.

The GSi-6 range features a directional tread pattern with tapered grooves to remove water and slush from the contact patch, reducing the risk of aquaplaning. Staggered blocks enhance traction and handling and reduce road noise. Wave-shaped 3D sipes improve tire traction on ice by maintaining block rigidity during braking, acceleration and cornering, which improves performance and reduces the risk of uneven tread wear. Snow “teeth” located in the tread grooves enhance traction in deep snow or slush.

The Observe GSi-6 HP non-studded winter tire is suitable for speeds up to 210 km/h (130 mph) and is available on the market in 22 sizes from R14 to R16. The Observe GSi-6 LS tires for SUV and CUV vehicles are suitable for speeds up to 240 km/h (150 mph) and are available in 66 sizes from R15 to R22.

The new additions complement the GSi-6 model, which entered the Canadian market in 2018 in 33 standard sizes.

All tires in the GSi-6 range are manufactured by Toyo in Japan.
