CEAT increases production of motorcycle tires at factories in Sri Lanka

Making the most of the production capacity at its factories in Kelaniya and Kalutara, CEAT has increased its production of motorcycle and scooter tires. If in June 2020 the company produced 27 thousand tires, then in July and August it raised the bar to 41 thousand tires, and in September it plans to produce 50 thousand tires for two-wheeled vehicles.

The sharp increase in tire production in this segment follows an increase in the production of truck and bus tires, as well as radial passenger tires from the CEAT Kelani division. To increase production of two-wheel tires, the company used existing capacity at its three-wheel plant in Kalutara.

CEAT Kelani currently produces 32 different types of scooter and motorcycle tires with 43 different specifications, which allows it to cover 37% of the Sri Lanka market.

As a result of the expansion of production, CEAT managed to increase the production of motorcycle tires in the popular sizes 90/90-12 TL and 90/100-10 TL by 100%, and in the amount of 90/90-17 TL - by 400%. In addition, the production of 100/80-17 TL tires, which are used for the popular Yamaha FZ motorcycle in Sri Lanka, increased by 100%.
