Tire production in Iran increased 26% in the first six months of the Iranian calendar year (March 20 to September 21) compared to the same period last year.
For half a year the country produced 129 660 tons of tires - 12.143 million pieces, which is 25% more than last year.

In early August, a spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade said that increasing investment in tire production in the country is a necessity, as Iran's transport fleet is growing rapidly.
Iran's total annual production capacity is 426,000 tons of tires; the country accounts for 41% of the tire production in the region. There are 11 tire manufacturing plants operating in the country, creating jobs for 14,500 people. At the same time, as noted, the real productivity of the country's tire industry is below 426 thousand tons, since some enterprises operate at 60-70% of their capacity due to their dependence on imported raw materials.
