Goodyear will relocate small-batch tire production from its plant in Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg, to other European sites, including a new plant in Dudelange that has the “capacity and resources” to manufacture these tires.
This decision will reportedly not affect the prototyping work at Colmar-Berg. Goodyear workers' unions will work with company management to develop an employment retention plan to ensure that the transfer of about 100 employees to other locations is in the best interests of all parties.
The transfer of production should be carried out within the next 12-18 months.
Goodyear has been in Colmar-Berg since 1949 and now employs over 3.4 thousand people. In 2019, it announced its intention to invest $ 36 million in its production and development in Colmar-Berg. The investments were aimed at increasing the production of off-road tires.
