Japan's Toyo has unveiled the new energy-efficient Toyo Proxes CL1 SUV tires designed specifically for crossovers. In the lineup, the novelty changes the Toyo Proxes CF2 SUV tires, and the company says that compared to the tires of the previous generation, the noise level has been reduced and the service life has increased.
“Crossovers are becoming more popular for their visual appeal and practicality, and the number of new vehicles sold in this segment is increasing year after year,” says Toyo. “However, since a wide range of eco-friendly models, such as hybrids, is also offered, the tires should have improved durability, taking into account the increased weight of the power plants, as well as reduced noise, since electric motors do not make noise, unlike internal combustion engines.”
When designing the Proxes CL1 SUV, the engineers used T-Mode computer modeling technology to create an asymmetrical pattern with zones that perform different functions. As noted in the company, in comparison with the tires of the previous generation, the level of uneven wear has been reduced, and the noise has decreased immediately by 22%. In addition, Nano Balance Technology, which allows to control the properties of rubber compound components at the nanoscale, helped create a compound that provided the new product with high marks “A” and “b” for efficiency and grip on wet surfaces, respectively, according to the Japanese marking system.
Toyo Proxes CL1 SUV will enter the Japanese market in January 2021 in 20 sizes from 175/80 R16 to 245/40 R20.
