Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing Thailand (BTMT) has launched its solar power plant to power a truck and bus tire manufacturing facility in Chonburi, Thailand.

At the first stage of the project, the power plant consists of 2,160 solar panels installed on the roofs of the enterprise, with a total capacity of 1 MW. The second phase, which is scheduled for completion in 2024, includes the installation of additional 4 MW solar panels. At the same time, the company plans that 40% of the energy it receives from third-party suppliers will come from renewable sources.

“Bridgestone not only seeks solutions to improve energy efficiency, but also strives to contribute to a more sustainable and just society for all. The solar power plant initiative is another step in Bridgestone's long-term environmental program to reduce CO2 emissions, ”said BTMT Managing Director Shousuke Namiyama.

Bridgestone plans to install solar panels at Thai Bridgestone Co, Ltd. by 2023. (TBSC) and at two of its facilities in Thailand - at Bridgestone Specialty Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) and Bridgestone Metalpha (Thailand).

TBSC recently signed a contract with its partner, renowned solar installation solutions provider Impact Solar Group (Thailand), to build a 9.9 MW solar power plant at the Nongkhae plant.
