Pirelli develops new all-season tires for North America

Pirelli has unveiled the new Pirelli P7 AS Plus 3 all-season touring tire, designed specifically for the North American market, where year-round tires are a very popular choice among motorists. With the launch of the new passenger car tires, Pirelli completes the formation of the new Plus 3 range, which also includes the Pirelli Scorpion All Season Plus 3 (with the same tread pattern) introduced in May this year, intended for SUVs and pickups. According to the company, the tires of the new family cover 70% of the popular sizes in the segment of tires with a diameter of 18 inches and above H (up to 210 km / h), where there is very high demand.

Since the P7 AS Plus 3 is in the touring category, the developers have focused on increasing durability and providing increased levels of comfort, and Pirelli adds that the new tread pattern, compound and construction have improved snow traction and handling on dry and wet surfaces. while reducing the noise level.

The pattern of the new Pirelli sipes is more evenly distributed, resulting in increased uniformity of stiffness and wear, and the shape of the contact patch has become more square, which, according to the company, has improved ride quality on snow and again made the tires more durable. The new profile has reduced shoulder peaks for increased tire life and braking performance.

To help the tires cover as much distance as possible, the engineers have also added materials such as functionalized polymers to the rubber compound, which are designed to increase tire mileage without compromising wet grip and improve handling in winter conditions. In addition, 3D sipes are placed in the tread blocks, which Pirelli says ensure smooth wear and increase grip on snowy and wet surfaces.

The Pirelli P7 AS Plus 3 will be available in 13 sizes with 17-20 inches in diameter for popular US vehicles such as the Acura TLX, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Subaru Legacy, Toyota Camry, Kia K5 and Cadillac CT6. The guaranteed mileage is 70,000 miles (112,000 km).
