Trelleborg company unveiled its system Variable Inflation Pressure (VIP) at the Paris exhibition SIMA-2017, which runs from 26 February to 2 March.
Offline VIP system automatically adjusts the pressure in the combine harvester tire depending on its load - it optimizes tire contact patch and reduces soil compaction.
"Right now, precision farming technology is used by more than 5% of all agricultural land, and in the next decade, this figure will rise to 20%. As a result, self-propelled agricultural equipment and robotic acting when using industrial equipment control system through the Internet, is rapidly becoming a reality and helps farmers to increase the volume of output at a lower cost, - said Piero Mancinelli (Piero Mancinelli), director of Trelleborg in research and development of agricultural tires. - And Trelleborg is investing heavily to further increase the capacity of these innovative technologies."
VIP System, as claimed by Trelleborg, - a step forward in comparison with already available on the market tire-pressure monitoring system TPMS and TMCS, because the VIP can not only measure and change the tire pressures, but also to determine the correct pressure for the specific operating conditions without operator intervention . VIP system is mounted on a wheel and includes a set of sensors which measure several parameters including load, pressure and temperature of tire, and a central processing system, which controls the compressor and the pressure control valve. The system can determine the moving vehicle on the road or on the field, and changing the tire pressure in accordance with current conditions. The system also detects when the load on one tire is higher than the axis than the other, and corrects the situation.
Tests have shown that VIP provides improved system throughput, resulting in reduction of soil compaction (to 10.5% compared to standard tires), and up to 5% increases its yield. Trelleborg VIP tire pressure changes depending on the loading harvester, so that the contact area remains invariably wide. All this allows us to increase the efficiency and productivity of agricultural machinery, to reduce fuel consumption and performance of work time.
The exhibition SIMA VIP system was awarded the Gold Innovation Award.
As stated by Trelleborg, this prestigious award confirms the company's long-standing commitment to develop innovative solutions ideas for the agricultural industry to increase productivity, efficiency and effectiveness, as well as reducing operating costs and shorten the negative impact on the environment.
