New Continental CrossContact ATR tires

The range of tires of the Continental concern for cars of the SUV class is fully formed by the launch of the new CrossContact ATR tire. Designing this tire, the developers of the Continental concern have chosen a combination of properties that ensure safe driving on the roads and beyond. For example, an improved rubber compound with silica guarantees good adhesion even on wet surfaces, and angled slats in tread blocks - accelerated water outlets when driving on wet roads. As a result, even on wet and slippery surfaces, a new tire for SUV cars provides very good grip and safe braking.

The noise barrier in the form of small bridges between blocks in the shoulder area of the tire reduces the noise from friction of the tire on the roadway, making the traffic more quiet. For good traction in off-road conditions, the developers have given the CrossContact ATR bus special "clutch teeth" between the grooves, as well as an open tread pattern with a large number of lamellas. This tread pattern creates additional traction and reliable grip on loose surfaces.

When driving on an uneven, stony coating, large blocks of the tread and a rigid rubber compound provide resistance to cuts and cracking, and stones are quickly pushed out of the grooves. As a result, the new CrossContact ATR tire features high mileage even with frequent off-road use. The construction of the sidewall and shoulder area of the new tire is characterized by elongated blocks of the protector, extending far to the sidewall to protect against lateral damages. The tire also provides an edge to protect the rim and the tire in case of contact with a curb or obstacles off-road.

These tires, specially designed for road and off-road driving, are available in 21 sizes from 15 to 20 inches in diameter and from 205 to 275 mm in width with a profile to width ratio of 40 to 80%. Next year, the extension of the line is planned. The CrossContact ATR is certified for speeds up to 240 km / h and is suitable for a wide range of SUV and SUV vehicles.

With a 70/30 ratio of road / off road, the new CrossContact ATR is located between the classic off-road ContiCrossContact AT (50/50) and tires for priority use on roads, such as ContiCrossContact LX 2 (80/20) and PremiumContact 6 100/0). Thus, it successfully completes the formation of an extensive range of Continental tires for SUV and SUV cars.
