Cabot will expand the production of elastomers for tires

Mar 09, 2017

On March 1, Cabot announced that it intends to invest in expanding its production facilities for the production of elastomers for the tire industry at a plant in Port Dickson, Malaysia.

Cabot is also going to create a separate team of specialists who will develop new products and expand the existing line. The main attention is planned to be given to the development of compounds for industrial tires and rubber caterpillars.

Cabot elastomers are created on the basis of natural rubber and various reinforcing materials, including carbon black.

According to Cabot, the blending processes provide "an excellent level of distribution of carbon black and create materials that are structurally different from those produced by traditional methods." When used in tires, Cabot elastomers increase the resistance of treads to abrasion and damage.
