Bridgestone's Quebec plant will receive $ 1.9 million in government aid.
The funds were allocated for a project to improve professional qualifications and retraining of plant employees. The training will enable them to switch to the new robotic equipment Bridgestone deems necessary to improve the competitiveness of the Canadian plant.
The Joliette plant, which is Bridgestone's only manufacturing facility in Canada, will invest $ 3.6 million in the project. Modernization of equipment and advanced training of employees will allow the plant to increase its competitiveness in the international market, including by increasing production volumes - by almost a million tires per year, to more than 6.6 million tires.
