Two Kumho Tires Receive IDEA Award

Kumho e-NIMF and e-TOPs tires have won the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) and received the Design Achievement Award. In February and March of this year, the tires have already won the iF and Red Dot awards, so they now have all three of the world's most prestigious design awards.

The e-NIMF is an airless concept tire with removable tread that provides excellent ride stability and, unlike conventional tires, can run almost indefinitely thanks to periodic tread changes. The company has spent a long time developing a concept tire, selecting suitable materials and manufacturing methods, so that the e-NIMF's durability, noise, vibration and rolling resistance levels are very close to those of modern pneumatic tires.

The concept development of the Kumho e-TOPs is a hybrid of an airless and pneumatic tire. It combines the good handling and ride comfort of conventional tires with the safety of airless models that do not suffer from pressure loss due to puncture or other damage.

The IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards) is one of the three most prestigious annual industrial design awards, the Design Oscar. It was founded by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). The IDEA jury evaluates the products submitted for the competition on five key characteristics: their innovation, practicality, usability, as well as their benefits to society and aesthetics.
