Maxxis replaces vintage tires for free due to fading white stripes

The company will have to replace the tires under the newly introduced brand.

A couple of months ago, Maxxis launched the new niche Classic Street Tires brand on the European market, under which tires designed for classic cars will be produced. The first model was the Custom Liner CL-31 for minibuses, and the debut of the new brand was not the most successful, as it turned out that under the influence of light, the white stripes on the side walls can fade and turn yellow. For this reason, Maxxis will replace tires manufactured in 2019 and 2020 for free.

The company emphasizes that the tires do not have any defects that could affect the level of safety, and users can safely use the tires until a new batch is available. Tire replacement will be carried out from the beginning of 2021.

“Tires under our Classic Street Tires brand must be of the same high quality as all other Maxxis products, and since tires with the 27mm white stripe do not live up to our promises, we have decided to replace them free of charge,” said Dirk Romann. Managing Director of Maxxis International.

The CL-31 Custom Liner features a reinforced radial design for strength and durability, while a silica compound is added to the rubber compound to enhance wet grip. The tires are available in one size 185 R14C and are designed for vintage minivans such as the Volkswagen T2 Bulli. The price in Germany is € 149.99.
