The Finnish prosecutor's office is bringing charges against six former and current board members of Nokian Tyre, as well as its ex-president and CEO. We are talking about offenses in the securities market committed in 2015-2016.
In May 2017, the Finnish Financial Conduct Authority sent a request to the prosecutor's office on suspicion of crimes in the securities market against members of the board of directors, the president and CEO of Nokian Tyre. Members of the company's board of directors were suspected of using inside information when trading Nokian Tyre shares on the stock exchange, resulting in income of at least 850 thousand euros.
The prosecutor's office decided to initiate criminal proceedings against six people on suspicion of an offense related to information on the securities market.
Charges have been filed against current board members Raimo Lind and Inka Mero, as well as former President and CEO Ari Lehtoranta.
The accusations, Nokain says, will not affect the work of the board of directors.
The prosecutor also demanded to impose a fine on the company in the amount of up to 850 thousand euros.
In the case of alleged abuse of insider information, the prosecutor's office decided to bring charges against four people who were employees of Nokian Tyre in 2015.
Nokian said all of the defendants deny involvement in any criminal activity, adding that the company would not comment on the matter.
