Apollo Tires plans to launch the Vredestein brand in the Indian market in January 2021. The brand will be introduced to the replacement market in the premium tire segment.
According to Neeraj Kanwar, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Apollo Tires, the intention to bring the brand to the Indian market was announced back in 2016, but the project was delayed for a number of reasons. Now, however, Apollo Tires believes it is time to sell the prestigious European brand Vredestein, produced in the company's Indian factories, to owners of Mercedes, BMW and other premium sedans currently using imported products.
“Given the restrictions imposed by the Indian government on the import of tires for this type of car, we will try to take advantage of the opportunities that have opened up and will launch the premium brand Vredestein 'Made in India' tires on the country's market,” said Satish Sharma, President of Apollo Tires Asia -Pacific region, Middle East and Africa.
The 17-inch tire segment accounts for less than 10% of the Indian market, but Apollo sees it as a growing segment with high profitability.
