Pirelli & C. SpA is strengthening its logistics operations and building a new tire warehouse to serve its industrial center in Settimo Torinese in western Italy.
The project, which Pirelli is implementing in partnership with global investment platform BentallGreenOak and general contractor GSE Italia, will involve the renovation of the former CEAT plant, located next to the Pirelli industrial center.
The warehouse, which will be completed in 2021, will comply with eco-construction standards. It will be leased to Pirelli for 15 years, allowing the manufacturer to efficiently manage the flow of tires produced at the Settimo plant. Tires manufactured at the Settimo Torinese plant are now stored in a warehouse located 80 km from the plant. The proximity of the warehouse to the plant will also enable Pirelli to reduce its CO2 emissions.
The old warehouse in San Pietro Mosezzo, Novara will be further reoriented to serve the Italian market.
“By improving logistics efficiency, Pirelli will be able to reduce costs and make significant improvements in terms of sustainability,” the Italian tire manufacturer commented on the news.
