Workers at the Polish Bridgestone plant are unhappy with the wage system

Employees of the Bridgestone tire plant on Wednesday, October 27, held a picket in front of it. The factory workers' union cites dissatisfaction with the wage system as the reason for this decision.

“We invite everyone who is dissatisfied with the current situation in Bridgestone Poznań to take part in the picket,” the union said in a statement. "We have not been able to implement the [production] plan since May, which significantly reduces our payments, while the employer does not want to exclude from the plan external causes that employees have no influence on."

Just a few years ago, any production stoppages due to equipment failure or other major problems were accounted for and deducted from the plant's plan, the tire plant workers' union said. Bridgestone's new policy has resulted in downtime due to missing parts or problems with supplier companies, resulting in reduced employee benefits. Negotiations with the management of the plant were not crowned with success, so it was decided to hold a picket.

At the same time, the organizers of the picket called on the participants to use masks and keep their distance.

The Bridgestone Poznań plant is one of the most important production sites of the tire giant in Europe. Bridgestone has been present in Poznan for over 22 years. Today the plant employs about 2,000 people, which makes it one of the most important enterprises in the region. The plant produces mainly premium passenger tires, which are supplied to car manufacturers directly and exported to more than 40 countries around the world.
