The German recycling company Pyrum Innovations AG has begun expanding the production capacity of its pyrolysis plant in Dillingen.
The plant, which has been operating since May 2020, currently has one production line and has recycled 7,000 tons of old tires since launch. As part of the expansion project, Pyrum will add two more production lines to triple production capacity to around 20,000 tonnes per year.
The company said that earthworks for laying the foundations have already begun, and that equipment has already been ordered.
“With our new product lines, we are fully committed to our growth strategy and are making further progress towards a sustainable circular economy,” said Chief Executive Officer Pascal Klein.
Pyrum converts old tires into pyrolysis oil, gas and reclaimed carbon black, which are supplied to partners including BASF, Continental and Schwalbe. The materials are used as raw materials in the production of new products, including tires.
