The racing season 2017 began this weekend, and for the Italian tire manufacturers from Pirelli it will be the 111th season of participation in auto and motorcycle races: only a week ago, on 14 February in Turin held an event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the debut of the company in motorsport. Well, in motorcycle racing on two continents will start two world championship - World Superbike Championship and Motocross MXGP world.
Pirelli is the official (and the only) supplier of tires in World Superbike in 2004, and since then the speed and lap time records only improved every year. At the end of 2012, FIM and Pirelli agreed that the serial bikes should ride a serial rims (up to this point, many factory teams used the prototype rim diameter of 16.5 ", both in MotoGP). In 2013, the championship started in Phillip Island on 17 inch RV, and immediately three new records were set.
Phillip Island is a very special track for both the MotoGP pilots, and for the WSBK. Changeable weather and strong side wind can play a motorcycle and as a feather. Therefore, the tire has always played an important role in providing reliable toe fastest production motorcycles in the world.
In 2017, Pirelli makes a new step forward by offering a new version of the most running tires for the weather conditions, which tend to be in Phillip Island - it DIABLO Superbike SC1. World Superbike teams were able to try out just six different versions of the new compound in the test on Monday and Tuesday - two for the front-wheel drive, four rear.
Has earned the trust of compound for the front wheel is S1699 SC1, in 2015, residing in the process of improvement. It will complement standard set of tires, including the standard SC1 and SC2.
Four variants of the new compounds were available back to WSBK pilots this weekend. 18 of the 23 pilots chosen model U0794 for the first race at Phillip Island in 2016, in the second race of the elected these tires increased to 20 people. Now, this compound is improved. The new version, V0964 model is more stable and is designed for high performance at the end of races.
