Bridgestone tries to help the IOC and the NHL agree on Olympic Games 2018

Mar 27, 2017

According to Reuters, Bridgestone is trying to help the IOC and the NHL conclude a deal on the participation of league players in the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang.

"Very many people are interested in this. And we'll see what can be done to make it work, "said Phil Paxie, vice president of sports marketing.

Bridgestone is a sponsor of the IOC and an advertiser for the NHL. Annually organized by the league "Winter Classic" is officially called the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic.

The leadership of the National Hockey League (NHL) and club owners have previously expressed doubts about the advisability of participating in the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang. NHL players may miss OI-2018 due to the fact that the League and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) could not reach an agreement on the payment of insurance costs and transport costs for hockey players. Previously, the IOC did this, but subsequently refused, shifting responsibility to NHL clubs.
