Bridgestone is not interested in returning to Formula 1

Bridgestone announced that they are not going to return to Formula 1, and instead will focus on sponsorship of the Olympic Games.

Managing Director of Bridgestone Robin Shaw in an interview with City A.M. Said: "In the near future we will not return to Formula 1. We have invested all our time and resources in the Olympic Games."

Sponsorship of the Summer and Winter Olympic Games until 2024 was announced in early March.

"It is impossible to imagine that our desire for high quality will at least somehow relate to the desire of Formula 1 to use rubber that can explode," Shaw said.

The Japanese manufacturer actively worked with F1 from 1970 to 2010, and before the 2015 season Bridgestone supplied its tires for the Japanese Superformula.

"I'm a fan of Formula 1 and watch with interest all the races, but I'm extremely glad that we support the Olympic Games, not Formula 1," Shaw added.
