The Continental tire plant in Malaysia will be led by Carlos Bernabe

The Continental Malaysia division announces the appointment of Carlos Bernabe as the new director of the company in Alor Setar, Malaysia.

The plant produces passenger cars, light truck tires and motorcycle tires.

Bernabe joined the leadership of Continental Malaysia on January 1, 2017, replacing Jürgen Jacobs Dowling, who led the plant for the past three years and now moved to Continental in South Africa.

Previously, Carlos Bernabe was the head of Continental production in Timisoara, Romania, and before that he worked for about four years in the Continental division in Shanghai, where he was in charge of regional production and product quality issues. In addition, Bernabe managed to work in Portugal, France and Brazil, and in total he has been cooperating with the company for almost 37 years and has extensive management experience.

The tire plant in Alor Setar began work in 1979. Continental bought it from Sime Tire in 2012. Since then, the company has invested about 15 million euros, mainly in the modernization of equipment. The plant employs about 1,100 people, and it produces tires for the market of Malaysia and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region, with the exception of China and India.
