Conti's new plant produces first batch of truck tires

Continental AG's new US truck tire plant in Clinton, Mississippi has sent the first batch of tires to the local independent tire dealer Southern Tire Mart to mark the beginning of their partnership.

The inauguration of the Continental plant in Clinton took place last October. The company has invested $ 1.4 billion, and the launch of commercial production was scheduled for early 2020.

It is planned that at the first stage the plant will produce 750 thousand truck and bus tires per year. Upon reaching full capacity (no earlier than 2028), the company will have 2,500 jobs.

The Clinton facility is Conti’s third tire plant in the United States and the second dedicated to truck tires. The rest of Conti's American tire plants are located in Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Sumter, South Carolina.
