Bridgestone Bloomington Tire Plant celebrates 55 years

Industrial tire maker Bridgestone Americas in Bloomington, Illinois celebrates its 55th anniversary this year.

The plant began manufacturing tires in 1965 and it still plays an important role in the life of the district. The factory, which now employs 450 people, produces tires for construction and mining equipment that are supplied to the international market. In 2018, the company announced a $ 12 million investment in the plant to expand production.

Over the years, Bridgestone's Bloomington tire plant has received awards for excellence in quality, performance and safety. In 2019, the plant was recertified by the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and achieved Gold in the Caterpillar Supplier Quality Certification System. In 2017, the plant was also honored with the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association's Safety and Health Achievement Award.
